❤️ Slow-Roasted Turkey Breast

As I prepared our family’s Small Bites Thanksgiving this year, I knew I wanted a turkey recipe that was simple, make-ahead friendly, and full of comforting flavor. This slow-roasted turkey breast is exactly that — tender, juicy, and perfect for piling onto warm rolls with gravy.

❤️ Scripture for This Season

God’s goodness shows up even in the small things — a cozy kitchen, food prepared with love, and the gift of gathering with family. I’m grateful for His faithfulness in every detail.

❤️ Recipe: Slow-Roasted Turkey Breast (Perfect for Sliders)

Ingredients

Serves: 20–24 sliders

  • 2 bone-in turkey breasts (about 12 lbs total)
  • 2–3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1–2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage), optional
  • 1–2 cups chicken or turkey broth (for the bottom of the pan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
Low-and-slow keeps the turkey moist and tender.
  2. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Season well:
Rub with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  4. Place in a roasting pan and pour 1–2 cups broth into the bottom.
  5. Roast uncovered for 25–30 minutes per pound, until the thickest part reaches 165°F.
  6. Rest 20–30 minutes before slicing or shredding.
  7. Transfer to gravy (recipe below) and keep warm on Low for serving.
  8. Serve on sturdy rolls with stuffing squares and cranberry cubes.

Notes

  • Perfect for sliders, but also works beautifully for a weeknight dinner.
  • Add herbs under the skin for deeper flavor.
  • Turkey can be cooked 1–2 days ahead, sliced, and reheated in gravy.

❤️ Turkey Gravy (For Sliders & Small Bites)

A silky, flavorful gravy that keeps sliced turkey warm and tender for hours.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups pan drippings (or drippings + broth combined)
  • 2–3 cups additional broth
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 4 Tbsp flour
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Optional:
    • ½ tsp garlic powder
    • ½ tsp poultry seasoning
    • Herb bits from roasting pan

Instructions

  1. Strain drippings; skim fat if needed.
  2. Make a roux: Melt butter, whisk in flour, cook 2–3 minutes.
  3. Slowly whisk in drippings, then broth to reach 4–5 cups liquid.
  4. Simmer 5–7 minutes until smooth and thickened.
  5. Season to taste.
  6. To serve: Add sliced turkey directly into the gravy and keep warm on Low.

Cornstarch Option

Use 1 Tbsp cornstarch + 1 Tbsp cold water per 1 cup liquid.

❤️ A Little Reflection: Guided by His Light

lighthouse

The scripture above says: “blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Just as a lighthouse is the guiding light for mariners, think of God as our lighthouse. Trust him to be your guiding light, not just during storms and dark moments, but even when the seas are calm and the skies are clear.

❤️ A Blessing for Your Home

May your kitchen be warm, your table be full, and your heart be at rest this season.
May even the smallest dishes — like these comforting turkey sliders — remind you of God’s steady goodness and faithful provision.
