Patriotic Pizza

To celebrate the 4th of July, I wanted to make a savory red, white, and blue pizza. We always have the strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream flag. I wanted to try something different.

And here is the basic recipe for Blueberry Pesto:

1 pint blueberries

1/2 cup slivered almonds or nut of your choice

1/2 cup grated parmesan

1 Tbsp olive oil

1/4 tsp garlic powder

Bring blueberries to boil in saucepan. Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

Process cheese, nuts, garlic powder and oil until smooth. Add blueberries and liquid. Process until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

To lay down one’s life for his brother-that’s what these flags signify. These heroes gave their lives that we might be free. as we celebrate the 4th of July, thank God for their love, service, and selflessness. And thank you Lord for sending your Son to die for us- that we would be freed from sin and death.
